This was a great park, staff was friendly and just let us pick an empty site and that one would be yours....great! We were able to drive around and actually shop for the best site instead of looking at a crude map and trying to pick a good spot. The sites were very wooded and deer were in our site waiting to great us. There was plenty of room between the sites and it was not crowded at all. It was a great place to walk in the morning, deer everywhere. The sites were so,so level but not bad. They had a raised level pad on the sites for tent camping. The sites were nice and had a fire pit/grill on site, but no table that I noticed. They had campground hosts and they sold firewood. This was a great place I wished that we would have stayed there more.
This Pseudo-RV campground is located at the Mt. Dora Renninger's Antique Market. They have 3 antique extravaganzas during the year as well as other special events. I am not sure if they offer RV sites during other events, but they do during the extravaganzas. The have electric hook-up and "Shared" water, which means you need to bring a splitter, but they do have some if you need or your neighbor might already have one in use. They have a campground manager who is not too bad at making sure that everyone finds their way to their site and fixes problems should they arise. Some of the sites are close, but they seem to have plenty of room in some of the other areas in the back. Most of the sites are shaded with large oak trees. There are no regular bathrooms in the RV area, but they did have trash cans and porta-potties. There is no sewage hook-ups but they do have a free dump station. The sites are close walking distance to the event grounds and was very nice to stay and go all three days to the antique extravaganza. When I made reservations they said that it was a three night minimum and since it was about $60 for Thursday, Friday & Saturday night and could stay in place until Sunday evening, I didn't mind the 3 day min..it is a good deal even if you only needed 2 nights. Again I don't know what other times of the year that they allow camping, but you can call the main office to find out.
We stayed at this park for 2 nights. It was very nice, and the sites were shaded with large oak trees. I will tell you that there are 2 camping loops at this park...The one up near the gate is the Old Prairie loop, and this one looked crowded and sites looked close together and not as much shade as the loop in the back that we stayed. The camp was pretty crowded with tent campers, and it was a little loud at night until the kids went to bed, but we just watched a movie and with the A/C going it was pretty quiet. If you want to have a campfire you are not supposed to gather wood from the forest, they want you to bring in your own firewood. So, if you don't know that you can't have a campfire. The park staff was very friendly and helpful. We took our segways, and toured the park, but didn't go down any of the trails. We saw some deer and lots of birds and alligators, of course. This park was great I would stay here again. The ranger said that January through April is real busy especially on weekends and she said that it is booked up 11 months in advance during those months and that sometimes the park is flooded out with 5 ft of water during the wet season, so call ahead to confirm even if you do get a reservation. The park is very close to the Sarasota area, and we went to the John Ringling Museum...a must see!
Way too crowded, jammed in awning to slide-out. They should up the rates and cut out about 50 sites and make the remaining ones bigger and plant some trees.
We stayed just one night at this park. It was nothing special, but it was very quiet and peaceful, and the requirement for us was that it was very close to the Tarpon Springs Sponge Dock area. We traveled with our Golden Retriever and Chinese crested, and had no problems. We checked in about 6pm and left around 8am in the morning so we really didn't get to look around much, but they charged for Wi-fi internet. The site we had was a back-in, and was gravel with water, electric and sewage. I wouldn't recommend staying here for more than a couple of nights at the most, there are some nicer places for extended stays, but I would stay here again to visit Tarpon Springs.
Called to make reservation, staff was very snooty. I have a brand new $100K 2008 Itasca Navion Class C motorhome with Mercedes Benz - Spinter chassis it is 25.5ft long, and I was told that they only accept 26ft or longer and my RV simply wouldn't be up to their standards.
Park was pretty good, allowed for late check-in via the campground "Hosts" who register you, and seem to patrol the campground. Stayed in a "River"side site, but couldnt see the river, as it was quite a wooded distance behind the site. We only stayed one night and then left in the morning. It appeared clean and wasn't crowded. Site was wooded and shady, but pitfall was that the oak leaves fell everywhere and acorns hit the roof all night long. Sewage/garbage dumping was available on the way out of the campground. A good place to stay. Located not too far from the interstate
This was a good park. Located close to Mammoth Cave. Easy access and gravel road and sites. Modern hook-ups, no shade or trees, looks like it was just landscaped will look nice when trees get bigger. Staff was helpful. It was not very crowded, but it was cold. Wireless internet was good. Sites also had picnic tables. We stayed 2 nights and have no complaints. Also had a Good Sams special for $9.95 instead of $19.95 if you signed up with through them...of course I signed up. I would stay at this park again. No frills but nice. They had a pavillion with picnic tables and campfire ring. I would recommend this park to anyone.
This was a nice park, wasn't too crowded. Looked like it some seasonal residents with some mobile homes, but everything appeared clean. Staff was friendly and check in was a breeze. Very informative web-site with video. Not flashy place but nice to stay for the night. Were not bothered at night by noise or drunks. Hook-ups were good. Very close to Renninger's Antique market in Mount Dora. Would stay her again, but I am going to check out Wekiva Springs State Park...called there first but were booked up. No complaints about Orange Blossom. When I pulled up they were having an early Thanksgiving dinner and lots of people attended.
